Default Mysterious heating problem

I have owned 3 Discovery vehicles over the past 15 years and they all seem to have the same problem.

Hot air (sometimes uncomfortably hot) blowing from the passenger side air vent, even when A/C is running.

I always assumed this was just heat off the gearbox, but after several complaints from passengers, I thought I would ask the experts!

Where is this heat coming from?
Why does it get into the air circuit?
Is there an underlying problem with my vehicles or a design fault?
Does anyone have a solution to stop this from happening?

All you can do is by-pass the heater core and you will run cool all summer.

Thanks Mike -

How would I go about this? Are you talking about modifying the duct work?

I will be off into the Wyoming Badlands this summer, it would be nice to have the Disco rigged 'desert fashion'

David.

This really doesn't sound like CPS to me. I think I'd with cleaning the intake system and possibly a tune up.

No, bypassing the heater matrix has nothing to do with the interior ducting. When you go underneath the hood into the engine compartment you will disconnect the coolant hoses that are routed to the heater core at the firewall.
