Need some guidence
So I just purchased a 99 disco 2 from a private seller. I have a work truck, so I only need to drive the LR to and from work (about 5 miles). The previous owner had the LR in his back yard for the past year and a half, starting it every other week. I took it in for an oil change and a 28 point inspection. At the repair shop they told me that they couldn't get the LR to start. They hooked it up to a diagnostic machine and told me a needed a new starter. So at the shop I got a new starter, a new belt (the other was dry rotting), and an oil change. It started fine and drove fine the rest of that day. The next morning it decided not to start again. I looked all over this forum for answers and decided to change the CPS. It still wouldn't start. I even used starter fluid on it to see if it was the fuel pump, nothing. I'm headed to the store to pick up a spark tester, but I'm running out of patience. Could anyone please give me some insight as to what my problem might be, or tips to get started?
1. A spark tester can be as simple as a spare spark plug laid on the manifold.
2. The CKP (Crank Position Sensor) can be installed wrong, with spacers incorrect, and it won't make the signal to trigger the spark, even though it is a brand new good sensor. The CPS (camshaft position sesnor) can fail and the truck still run because the ECU use a default. Attached is a couple of pages. And fom other posts - Sensor, spacers then nuts. In that exact order.
3. Fuel pump should only run for 2 seconds when key turned, unless computer sees engine turning, which depends on CKP working.

Is the engine not starting or just not turning over? If it is not turning over, I would go back to the shop since they missed it.
If it just won't start, send me your number and I'll call you and walk you thru what to do.

Sorry it's been a while. Since I have a work truck, I decided to wait on my tax return to repair my disco II. I took it to Land Rover of Columbia to repair a P1668. Turns out the fuse box had melted. So now I have a new fuse box, spark plugs, and wires. It's been running great this week.
