Default New owner..need help with engine

I just purchased a 1999 Disco II that does not run. The guy said he put a Series II motor in it from a 1998 Disco. It would only crank and not fire. He took it to the dealer and they told him he had the wrong motor. Can I simply buy a 1998 ECU and swap it out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, a D1 ECU won't run a Bosch engine.
Send me your tele number and lets talk.

DOH! Man that sucks but it explains the good deal. Apparently whoever installed the new engine didn't pay attention to whether the engine was from a D1 or D2.
