Default PCV Cleaning or Replace?

I did not find much information about this. To replace, its seems to be a simple 2 hoses, and a weird nipple that is on the passenger side.

Don't know where I have read it, but someone suggested that if the hoses are still good, is to remove and blast carb cleaner in them until they empty clean. As for the nipple, spray and use a toothbrush to remove impurities.

In reviewing the 60k service, I did not see this item.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

You might want to indicate what vehicle you're talking about.

Here is the info you are looking for re: the PCV hoses, etc. Go easy when removing the oil separator/hose. The oil separator likes to get stuck in the valve cover nipple. So get out there and start cleaning!
The video gives way more info than you need, but you will see how to remove the hoses and oil separator >

Thanks for the info and video. I will buy a new separator BEFORE I start the work.

This is much easier than what I had to do on my 98 Volvo 850 turbo. One hose for idling, another hose for engine under load, another for the turbo. To make matters worse, the oil separator was located between the exhaust manifold and engine. A bloody mess to work on.

I removed my the old plastic separator and added an inline FRAM PCV valve #FV237.

Hmmm. So did the FRAM installation go?

Using the Fram inline filter has worked well for me for almost a year now.
I'm glad I used the Fram PCV filter rather than dealing with another PCV valve again...
