Rear chunck replacement

What exactly on the rear end got hot? The housing, the chunk, the rims, the brakes? And how "hot" is hot? The gear oil is going to warm up quite a bit from driving. If it left a blister on your skin, then that's too hot. If water boils off immediately, that's too hot. If its good-n-warm to the touch, that's OK.
As far as the squeaking noise goes... when was the last time you greased the u-joint(s) and slip yoke in the rear driveshaft?

the actual rearend was very hot and where the drive shaft goes into the rearend was smoking it was so hot. This is what has happened and where we are now. I got the vehicle from a family member who had sold on time and didnt get paid. so i went and got the truck. I got it running and first drive the part that goes in the rearend that bolts to the pinion or the gear broke. so i ordered a rear chunk off ebay from monte rovers. we installed and drive it and thats when it got hot. and it was also making a low squeal while driving. truck runs great but need other help. thx for any info.
