replace engine or rebuild?
hi guys
I bought a year ago a 97 Range Rover, that i love.
i got it for $1200 but the guy told me that had a blown head gasket.
I decided to take it to a shop to see how much a head-gasket job would run.
after a few days, the guy told me that a head-gasket won't do much... that this cars have a tendency of having Cylinder problems.
He told me i have two options,
1. I find a spare engine with less milage and replace the one i have .. he found one but he said it has the same milage as mine (150,000) which can risk of having the same problem. engine $1730 + labor
or
2 rebuild the one i have which can roughly cost $2500
In this case is more then what i paid for?
any good advice from Range Enthusiast??

Take it somewhere else, have the head gaskets replaced and drive it.
As long as it has not been severely overheated you will be fine.
It is a all aluminum heads and block, they dont like being overheated.
If you do the work yourself you're looking at $500.
To have it done about $1500.
