Default Robust tapping sound from engine

Last week (at 127K miles) a clear tapping sound began emminating from the engine at around 60MPH under some load. I'm an average amature mechanic, so I'm thinking it's a valve related issue...push rod adjustment needed (is that possible)?

The noise isn't always there, at low speeds anyway. E.g., I didn't hear the noise until today, where in I was barrelling along at around 60MPH.

Any takers on this request for advise?

Thanx in advance, James

Ummm theres a chance it could not be the engine possibly or is that a definite. Could be a front shock bushing, worn down which is pretty common and you have the metal to metal contact. It happened to me......
