Running rough
First let me say hello im new to the board. Had this 1995 land rover Discovery for about a year now. I love the thing but it is giving me a fit as of late. I searched and then searched some more. It died on me two times in traffic i let it sit for a hour. started right up drove home no problems. I decided it was time for a tune up. Plugs wires dissy cap and button. Well the button was a pain to get off. Anyways now it is running horrible can't even drive it. Once it gets warm it won't start. It also backfired through the intake. I am at my wits end with this thing. I know discomike says the distributors are know for braking when you pull on the rotor to hard. Anyways what ever suggestios you have through them my way. Also no check engine light is on.
I got it running better. Now its just sputtering right off idle. I need to set the timing but can't find the timing marks. I moved the dissy untill it idled good and started fine but i believe it is still out some. So need to find the timing marks and knock the dust off my timing light.
After market cap and rotors can cause this, what brand of wire and plugs did you install, what gap, what octane gas?
You may have also damaged the dist., old Rover dist's were prone for having problems if you tug too hard on the rotor to remove it.
Any fault codes?
