Default salvage title

asking for a little schooling on them. I understand the reason that some vehicles are awarded salvage titles, but, in what cases, should they really be avoided? guessing it is only an issue for resale value??
if I just want the truck for me, no big deal......right? insurance really an issue? liability and full coverage, I assume just full cov?

only an issue for resale value & insured value.

unless the vehicle is re-inspected and reissued a re-built title,
you will have trouble finding a company that will insure it for the full ACV.

but rules very from state to state, some do not issue rebuilt titles.
which means it will always be on a salvage title.

so if I just carry liability and plan on driving it till it disintegrates, not an issue?

Here you can have either. But from what I've seen you can insure either rebuilt or salvage here. One insurance company I was with requested the car be safety inspected by a pre approved shop before they would issue a policy.

If it's just for you...I don't see why not. As long as it's structurally ok.

cool. thanks guys. accidently, found a '94 d1 salvage title, that was otherwise a decent truck. was thinking about looking at it as an off road project, but I want to use the roadways legally, too. '94......so more options for me to do stupid with the under bonnet cavity. but not a fan of trailer queens....seems purpose defeating, to me.
