Default Security hitch pin.

Have a 2001 Range Rover. Previous owner had a Land Rover logo on the receiver. The hitch pin is a security one that no one seems to have seen before. Each end is circular, very shallow like a carriage bolt but looks like stainless steel and you need a triangular bit maybe a bit over 1/4 inch each side. If the PO had left a “key” I would not be posting this. No security pin sticking out but so far I have not seen a drive that size. What I have seen are much smaller screws in electronic devices. Need to get the darn thing off so we can use the hitch. Shops that looked at it think it will be a real b—— to drill it or other wise remove it. Ideas??

I have a photo if I can figure out how to attach it. We need to pick up a trailer that we purchased and can’t do it until we can get this off!!!

Use the square box with the mountain and the dot to post up some pics of the hitch/pin and we’ll go from there. It’s next to the smiley face.

Security hitch pin. Right side.

About 1/4 in. Each side. Slight curve each side.

Default Hammer Time!

My 98 D1 had a lock pin. PO had no key - 5 lb sledge and a 12" bar used as a "punch" and it came off so quick and clean that I haven't bothered w/ locks since!

Is there room between the truck's hitch mount and the pin itself to get a hacksaw or recipricating saw blade into?

Partsguru...Hubby hates to destroy stuff, and there really is no room to ‘swing’ anything. The stainless ‘button’ is very flush with the rest of the mount.

Angle grinder will cut it right off. If hubby hates destroying stuff then get use to looking at it forever.
