Default Service engine soon

I had my first land rover for about a year now.
And I love it.
It's 1999 discovery 2
Recently the service engine sson light came on.
I took it to a local auto parts store and had it read.
It came back:
gear 4 ration incorrect.
That was on sunday and today the light turned off.
The land rover has 105k miles on it.
It drives great and handles like a champ.
What should I do for my baby.

Thanks for any help given
Noemad

At your mileage, your O2's are warn out and should be replaced if you would like to regain some of your trucks youthful power it had when new.
I would suggest a good engine flush, decarb the engine and consider new pug wires, like Magnacor 8mm's if they haven't been changed in the last 50K.

O2 sensors are the oxygen sensors located on the "Y-pipe", which is that part of the exhaust system that bolts to the manifolds on either side of your engine. They have a life-cycle, like anything else. When they are going, or fail-- they affect the fuel/air mixture that is metered into your engine. The vehicle will use more gas than normal and because the reading the computer gets from these sensors is then erratic, the "Check engine Light" can illuminate and you will notice a smoothness that used to exist in the engine has now degraded to a rough idle.
