Default squeaky new front brakes

I recently had my front brakes replace at an indy shop (who I will refer to as Jerry) who assured me they have replaced brakes on Lr3's many times. Immediately upon picking them up I heard a loud squeaking and also a separate grind sound. Of course Jerry assured me that the noise was normal and it would go away after 20 miles. I took the car because I didn't have a choice (I had and appointment I had to keep), but of course after driving it the week end, the sounds are still there. I called American express (which was how I paid), and they told me they could handle the charge with Jerry if it was not fixed. I'd like to have a better understanding of what is causing the noises so when I take the car back to Jerry, I will better informed. I read that Akebono ceramic pads are the way to go to eliminate the squeak, but I'm not sure if the grinding sound is the sensor or EPB's. I hear it grind only on the right side of my car
