Hello all, got my wife a nifty Bluetooth cassette tape thing that plays through the stereo. The problem I'm having though is the drivers side door speakers are quite weak compared to when listening to the radio or CD. I'm reaching out to the older crowd here who grew up with tape decks. Would cleaning whatever makes a tape work fix this issue? Thanks

Does the same thing happen with all cassettes? Sometimes individual tapes can be slightly misaligned. There's an alignment screw to adjust the position of the playback head but that's usually set at the factory.

 

it be honest, the only other tape I tried was an old queen tape my dad copied in the 80s. I'll try something alittle newer. I do have a copy of vanilla ices first album that should work!

 

Copied tapes will be more finicky than commercially-produced ones.

 

Really. You are the original owner? If so somebody must have stolen your truck at least 2 times in its life and done the head gaskets before the police retuned it to you.

 

of course I'm not the original owner but I did go to the LR dealer to look up all the maintenance and no head gasket repair mentioned. The original owner went there for everything, oil changes, burnt out bulbs all the recommend maintenance intervals. My diesel truck has 350000 and still has all the original engine parts...

 

Did you check the police reports to see if it was stolen twice and came back with major engine work done? JK

Ok, I guess you are the “one”.

Once you poke around more you will find that head gaskets are practically a maintenance/wear item on these trucks.

I don’t doubt your diesel truck.

If you doubt my skepticism post a thread in the D2 section on your mileage and having Original HGs.

Good luck with the tape deck. If it doesn’t work go search Grom audio. You will find a stereo jack which goes to the back of the radio in place of the CD player port. They have Bluetooth and 3.5mm headphone jack options. Starting st around $70.

 

Be sure that the clear tape is removed from the cassette pick up head. If that’s been done already, you can also try flipping the tape over. This info is not my first hand knowledge. I read it in the reviews for these items on Amazon.
