TD5 MAIN ECU
Hi all I put a post on a few weeks ago about my Defender having a few engine problems and with a bit of help found it to be the injector loom pushing oil into the main engine wiring loom and down to the main ECU under the drivers seat a common ish fault!!! I have replaced the injector loom and spent weeks with brake linings cleaner and an airline claening the loom plugs and now have got all the oil out of the system by that i mean there is no sign at the ECU end, but the problem is still there I get to about 70ish and it starts missing and coughing so I guess I have to bit the bullet and change the ECU but was thimking of gettin one from a breaker as the cost ofa new one is shall I say frightening anyway the bottom line is anyone know of an ECU with part number MSB101360 ???? Its for a Defender TD5 X reg 2001. Cheers Brad

RE: TD5 MAIN ECU
Have you had this diagnosed by a main dealer using Testbook? If not I'd advise it before splashing on a new ECU. A faulty AFM (Air Flow Meter - sometimes called Air Mass Meter) can do this sort of thing and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a new ECU - £65 from famous four. http://www.famousfour.co.uk/new_part...&eng=e_td5
I'd definitely spend the 1/2 hour labour charge (some of them diagnose for free) at a main dealer to get this checked before starting to replace bits.
Cheers,
