Default Telescopic Steering Squeaks

When I turn the engine off and remove the key the steering returns to its original position. While it is doing so it squeaks like it needs to be lubricated. Does anyone know where/how I might go about fixing this annoying problem?

Default RE: Telescopic Steering Squeaks

You may need to get some help from someone to check if the sound is coming from under the bonnet at the base of the steering column, there is a short shaft with a couple of universal joints it maybe from there, but it is hard to check out if you are in the drivers seat.

If so I fixed mine by spraying the rubber parts with a Lanoline lubricant which shouldn't damage the rubber.

Hope this helps
