Default Thinking about buying a Land Rover. A few questions...

I am looking into buying a Land Rover, probably a Range Rover. But then again I am not ruling out a Discovery. What I am wondering about is if anyone can give me some beginners info. I currently drive an Audi so I am familiar with expensive repairs and I fear Land Rover will only be the same. Is this true? I am looking to get a year model 2000-2001. Generally how many miles can you expect on average from the engine? Should I look out for anything in specific? Any help that you could give me would be great. Thanks in advance...
