Default Looking at Buying: Few Questions

Im looking into buying an LR3 to replace my Wrangler Unlimited. Coming from a Jeep with 35's and 4 inches of lift it will be a big change. I drove one yesterday and really liked it, great interior space and plenty of power. Having driven the jeep for a the last few years though I've gotten use to driving something i have to hop to get in to. I know the LR will be a great vehicle for what i need, but I will definitely want to add a little height.

I have just a few questions.

If i go with the LR and use the lift rods to fit larger tires, how are you guys correcting the speedometer?

Will 285's fit the stock wheels?

Is rasta4x4 still in business? Seems like there is a lot of dead links and no way to order from their site.

I am sure ill have other questions but thats it for now. Ive done a ton of reading but hadn't seen these answered in the posts i have come across.

Google Johnson rods; that site has a lot of good info on lifted 3's. They also have a tire figment guide. 285s might fit the wheel well, but it depends on the aspect ratio as well. I think there's some figment guides regarding width and minimum wheel width. I found some on other tire/wheel sites.

I think the speedo can only be corrected by the dealer or an Indy shop with the right software. I bet most don't worry about it or find out how far off it is with a GPS that displays speed. I use a little Garmin and found that my stock speedo on my work vehicle (2011 Kia Sorento) is off 3 miles an hour at 80mph. The state cops's radar also confirmed; when my cruise is set to 80, he had me at 77 (in a 60!!). No ticket for speeding -just a warning-but got a $25 ticket for improper restraint in the back seat.

Also, I've heard (and it makes sense) that you need to keep it aligned or else you'll get poor tire wear/accelerated wear when running rods. You can also pop them on and off quickly (10 mins or less) if you're just using it for the occasional trail run. But they do look much better with the lift!

Ya Ive been on their site i know they fit with the rods but i was curious with the stock wheel width if the 285 is specifically to wide for the rim. Thanks for the input.
