Throttle body heater plate
On a 2001 D2, can the throttle body heater plate be replaced without taking off the throttle body itself? Just found a coolant leak, and this is where it is. Thanking in advance to all comments.

It can, but it is going to be brutal. There is just no room under there. In theory if you remove the hose from the air cleaner to throttle body, you might be able to get at everything. It is only 3 small bolts that hold it on. I am thinking A 1/4 in drive socket and ratch would give you the best shot
At least one person has done it without removing the throttle body, so it is doable.
If you are going to try I would have everything you need to do it either way. That is my plan mine is leaking too, it just needs to stop raining, so I can do that and my fan and fan clutch.

I figure remove the air duc, clamp and remove the two coolant hoses. unscrew the bolts with a small wrench or socket set. pop off the old, scrap and clean. install the new and work backwards. I already cleaned the throttle body from the outside. Could not pop off the throttle cables, strange.

They are like my old Triumph motorcycle it is a barrel with the wire in the center. You need to get enough slack in the cable to rotate the barrel and the move either left or right to slide it it out. It is always weird until you have done it once or twice.
Check the Atlantic British Video on do this I think they show it pretty well
