Default throttle problem

I have a Disco 97. Everytime I start it even when the motor is hot the revs go up to 2,000
and stay there for approx a minute before they come down again. Twice they have stubornly
refused to come down and I had to turn off and start again. I appreciate your feedback.
Thanks Chris

Time to clean your throttle body as well as your idle control unit, that will fix it.

Hmm. I have a 96 with the same problem. The only time it will idle down is when it is warm. When I first start it, I immediately have to put it in drive to get the rpms down from 2000. I have already tried the above advice. I will attempt another cleaning though. Any chance it could be something else?

Go and replace the idle control unit, assuming you cleaned it completely.
