Default Thumping sound

May sound dumb but getting a thumping noise when applying break. Obviously would think brakes need work but sound seems to be coming from right under front part of cab, not from front or rear wheels. Any ideas? Did rear brakes last year, less than 2000 miles since that was done. 2001 LR Discovery.
Thanks

Drive your car on a straight away and step on the brakes without touching the steering wheel. Does your Disco pull to the left or right when you brake?

Shine a flashlight underneath your Disco, especially on the front driveshaft connection.
