Transfer case and just over filled same compartment. If you look at attachment appears the temp switch fitting is good bit higher than fill.

I drained approximately 2 quarts of the 1 gallon from the transfer case. The fill plug was just too difficult to access. There was this thick wiring loom in the way. The plug had a larger outer tightening nut that I couldn't loosen. I didn't want to risk breaking it off or rounding off the edges.

Most any other make, I wouldn't worry with % quart overfill. But, since we are talking about a Land Rover Disco, I am lying awake at night.

Hemi, there is absolutely no way to know how much oil you have in there unless you remove the fill plug.

Anything else and you are just guessing. If that works for you, fine.

I know that mine didn't have an outer nut, but I know what you mean about that wiring. A wobble extension allowed me enough flexibility to get past it.
