Default trouble starting for a few days now the starter wont shut off

Hey all, I have a 2005 Land Rover LR3 se for the past few weeks it has had a problem with starting I tool it to the parts store and had the starter battery and charging system tested it all tested good. it did it again today I finally got it started shut it off waited a few mins and it started I took the key out and it wouldn't shut off. I put the key back in and got it to shut off but the started would not stop running I had to disconnect the battery to get it to shut down I waited for 30 mins or so and tried to connect the battery but it still arches. Any Idea of what the issue would be ? thanks for the info

It sounds like the electronic part of the ignition switch got loose. I don't own a LR3 but if it has an ignition switch they generally operate the same way the key turns the tumbler that operates a mechanical switch behind it that is usually secured by a few screws. Take the column cover off and lower panel and inspect for loose connector switch housing behind the ignition key tumbler.
