Default What to do with destroyed key fob?

Hello LR Forum. I have a 01 Disco that has been out of commission for a few years and recently back on the road. The key fob we have is completely destroyed. The metal key itself is fine, but the black casing and electronics inside need to be replaced completely. Is there a best practice to do this before going to the dealer and have them work on it? Thanks in advance for the help.

If the internal circuit board isn't trashed, you can buy a new plastic 2-button fob from eBay for $7 and swap out the circuit board and key. I did this for my chewed up spare 2001 Disco key. But with mine, I had to solder in new mini tact switches onto the circuit board since the buttons didn't work at all.
With a new battery, it's been working fine for the past year since I bought Myrtle.
