Default Wiper motor continuously runs

I just replaced the front wiper motor on my 1996 Discovery 1 and the motor stays on at a constant speed when the ignition switch is in the on position. I'v tried moving the wiper switch but no change. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I just got down pulling the switch apart.Several contacts were melted and a part on the arm was broken. The motor was fried inside also. I am surprised the whole thing didn't catch on fire. Does anybody know were I might find a good deal on a wiper switch?
