replacement muffler
#11
Hello!
Well my DII just gets louder and louder and my mechanic saw the seem starting to come apart on my muffler back in January.
Now I've got to pick one.
I have to say the quieter option is more appealing to me I think...
I've had a number of people tell me I should probably go the Stainless Steel option or else I'll be replacing it all the time...
My mechanic says he can get one (I'm assuming not stainless) from NAPA for $206.
I've been looking at a few of the online options:
Rovers North - they call it a silencer? should I do other stuff at the same time?? - Discovery II Exhaust Pipe, Hanger, Muffler - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts - $170?
Since I'm in Canada (shipping and duty are brutal) - Canada Parts Online - - has three options - Bosal and Starla??? $100-$135
And the offerings from AB:
Exhaust system kit - Land Rover Discovery II Exhaust System - $270
Genuine exhaust system kit - Land Rover Discovery II Exhaust System, 1999 - 2003 - $490
Muffler - Muffler Center D2 99-03 (WCE104642 Same Fit As Part # WCE104642 ) - Land Rover pipes from Atlantic British - $130
Genuine muffler - Muffler Center D2 99-03 (Genuine Part # WCE104642 ) - Land Rover pipes from Atlantic British - $200
Tail pipe with resonator - Tailpipe With Resonator (WDE100650 Same Fit As Part # 284-067 ) - Land Rover pipes from Atlantic British - $130 - should I replace this at the same time??
AND the Stainless Steel option - Magnaflow Performance cat-back kit - Land Rover Discovery II Exhaust System - Magnaflow Cat-Back - Single-Exit / Single-Tip - $590
I haven't priced with the dealership yet...
What do you guys recommend? Other sources?
Thanks!!!

I would go with the muffler on back. I had to piece my muffler to fit the factory tail pipe and it was not much fun. Also found using a sawzall works much better than a cutting torch. no hot parts and cleaner cuts. I went with the Borla because of the lower price. sound is just fine and not too noisy.
