Default 2008 LR2 coolant leak

Next on the long list of problems with this vehicle is a coolant leak that left it disable yesterday. The leak appears to be coming from a small S shaped hose on the passenger's side. At one end it slips over a fitting and is held with a hose clamp. On the other end is a fitting that appears to be pushed into the engine block and held in place with a bolt. It looks like its leaking from the fitting or at least in that area. Its a bugger to get at. Moved the power steering reservoir out of the way and was able to get the clamp undone but the fitting is presenting a problem, can seem to get a socket on it. Anyone have any experience with this or even know what this hose is called or part number? Thanks.

Found a picture of the hose in question. I can't determine what size socket is needed to remove the bolt holding the fitting in. Anyone know?

Based on your description I can't figure out what you are talking about. Picture(s) would help. I *think* you are talking about the coolant intake hose but I am not sure.

This little hose. The upper connection slides into the engine and is secured with a bolt, I can't get a socket on it. While I'm at it, taking off the intake plenum to get better access a few electrical connectors have to be disconnected. Does anyone know how to disconnect? I always seem to do something wrong and end up breaking them. I there a lever, pin, ? Hard to see. Thanks.

I replaced that hose on my LR2 and S80 (same engine for both)

And I am nearly certain that I took those pictures.

I am really glad that the pictures are helpful

To answer your question you need the following

Hose

O ring for the hose

The bolt can be reused if you want to

Note: the bolt is removed with a Torx bit (if I figure out the size I’ll post it here)

Good luck

Yes, thanks. Those pictures were helpful. I ordered the hose but not the O ring. There was no separate listing for the O ring for sale so I am hoping it comes with it. So far the illustrious delivery service has only seen fit to leave notes on my door saying I was not home when they attempted delivery even though I was home and waiting after making sure the doorbell worked and got the dog barking when pushed. This is the second time this service has done this to me. Last time was days before I finally got the part.

Hopefully the o-ring comes with the hose

The part numbers are

LR001442 - Coolant Hose for heat exchanger

LR001505 - O-Ring for heat exchanger hose

LR000491 - Bolt for Heat exchanger hose

i also recommend that you replace the Thermostat they tend to fail every 10 years or so

LR006071 - Thermostat

I created a list of things that should be replaced as our LR2's get older

From that list you are working on

Typical repairs for high mileage 3.2

A) Thermostat – replaced mine at 10 years (also replaced two coolant hoses)

Here is the complete list

Good luck
