If you are going in (or are having someone do it for you) then get the parts that should be replaced if the manifold is removed
LR006071 - Thermostat
LR001491 - Screw for Thermostat (Qty 4)
LR001442 - Coolant Hose for heat exchanger
LR000491 - Bolt for Heat exchanger hose
LR001505 - O-Ring for heat exchanger hose
LR019341 - engine to expansion tank coolant hose (this will likely leak after removal)
LR001454 - intake manifold gasket Qty 6 needed I bought aftermarket parts from Victor Reinz and the quality appears excellent and the cost was very low
And share the link about how to remove the manifold with who ever is doing the work

PS I installed a Volvo Twin Fan setup in my LR2 3.2 after the single fan failed and to save on cost I installed a Radiator Fan (Siemens / VDO) twin fan in my Volvo S80 3.2. Note: my Volvo Fan didn't fail it just made too much noise for me to tolerate and I still have the old worn out fan if the new fan fails. I did have to shim the VDO fan very slightly to prevent the Fan blade from rubbing on the shroud (the interference was very minor and it would have eventually stopped making a rubbing noise) but I have no tolerance for that so I fixed it prior to installing it.

I can testify to that (replaced engine last winter).
You have to balance the cost of repairs/maintenance against the replacement cost of another comparable vehicle. In today's market, it often makes more financial sense to invest in what you already have than buy a replacement. You never know what faults lie hidden in a replacement. As they say, "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know."

The LR2 is a complex machine and it needs preventative maintenance.
I compiled information from LAND ROVER and VOLVO as well as information about failures from the internet.
I separated that information into three groups
- High Mileage Maintenance items for 3.2
- Typical repairs for high mileage 3.2
- Less common repairs

If you add up all of the Bold Items the cost isn't very high.
However if you don't get out in front of it the cost can be very high.

The way that I think about it is this.
- The Thermostat is a known failure point at ~10 years
- Failed Thermostats can lead to coil pack failures
- Failed coil packs can lead to misfires and Catalytic converter failures
- And in severe instances a failed Thermostat (or possibly failed radiator fan) can lead to head gasket failure
For me it is easier to just replace the Thermostat and the Radiator Fan.
I expect that going through my list twice will get you to 300K miles with a very low probability of major mechanical failure
If you want more than 300K then you will need to look into replacing the Timing chain and a long list of additional items that will wear out
At this point I completed my first pass through the list and I am above 100K for both vehicles
