2015 LR2 Turbo Failure
A newbie here. We own a 2015 land rover LR2 HSE Turbo, 60k miles, which we purchased the full extended warranty. I have searched through the threads but haven't exactly found the issue on here and wanted to ask for some feedback.
We drove the car to a friends house last week, everything appeared fine. We got in to leave and noticed acceleration issues. In other words, the acceleration pedal wasn't responding. We were moving, but we weren't getting anywhere fast and had zero pickup. I took it to my trusted mechanic and it came up several error codes including several sensors. He recommended taking it to the dealer. We had it towed to our nearest dealer 60 miles away since we could not safely drive it on the interstate. They found that the turbo went out. $2k just for the part, $3000-$3500 total. They also recommended getting the oil changed and brakes while the car was being serviced. I explained to him we just had the oil changed. He started in with some attitude and said that they didn't look at the oil, they just recommend it. So we are already starting with trust issues with this dealership trying to get me to purchase add ons without knowing my vehicle. Three days pass and we get a phone call that the work will not be able to be completed under warranty because the oil change records are not what they should be, even after sending all of our records to them. We have religiously maintained this car, as with all of our vehicles. He explained that the computer kicked it back saying the work would not be able to be completed under warranty. It sounds like he entered something in the computer that kicked this back. Again, we had attitude and major trust issues with this service dept. Then he proceeded to state that the engine needs to be fully inspected for $500 to make sure that there is not further damage to the engine because the oil has not been changed as it should have been. Now we're just pissed. I told him not to touch my car until I could talk to the service manager and owner of the dealership.
From what I have read and seen on you tube, this turbo has quite a history of failing. Now that ours has, they do not want to honor the extended warranty we purchased for this exact reason. I would love to take it to another dealership, but I'm sure notes have been entered under my vehicle that will make it impossible for us to get a fair assessment.
Thank you for your thoughts. Any and all are greatly appreciated.

Have you bypassed the dealer and gone straight to JLR head office with full details of your dissatisfying interactions with this dealer and your legitimate displeasure on how this dealer is tarnishing your experience and their brand?
What State do you live in and purchased car? California Emissions Warranty is 7year/70,000 miles mandated which is also adopted by many other NE States, etc. The Turbocharger is covered by the emissions wRranty. Check your owner’s manual as it is spelled out there. If you have oil change records that is dealership BS. Talk to the LR Zone Rep, get the authority’s involved if need be and threaten to write bad reviews of dealership if necessary.
