ALternator
Other options include salvage yards (both the "you pay - they pull", and the lower priced "You pull-you pay" yards; as well as carrying it to an indy alternator shop; an experienced shop rebuilds dozens of alternators and staters every week from cars, high dollar boat engines, etc. They can usually give a ball park, or minimum price over the phone. With a ride as new as yours, it may be tough to find in the salvage yards, because they are worth rebuilding if wrecked. Alternator shop might be the first place to try. Salvage yard might have easier time finding it under a Volvo hood, a lot more of them in the yards than Rovers.
Quick Google shows you are correct that Bosch makes an alternator that could be found in a range of LR2s and Volvos. So there will be on line sources as well.
By the way, think of parts from the salvage yard as "vintage jewelry" - no one has to know you didn't pay full price..... in my town, alternators go for about $30 with a 30 day warranty.
