Default Amber engine light on

I just went on a road trip and twice during the road trip, during accelerating the engine felt like it lost power for a second then would regain causing the car to lurch forward then go back to normal several times in a row. I noticed when I let off the acceleration it would return to normal. That was yesterday. Today the amber colored engine light was on when I started the car. I checked the gas cap and tightened down. Light is still on. On may way back today during acceleration, I had the same problem described above.

I have ave been looking for answers on the forums and some people suggested that it could have to do with low batteries in the key fob. Interesting thing with that is, the last couple days I have had problems with key fob opening the doors sometimes. Does anyone know if low batteries in a key fob could cause the car to go into low power mode while driving? Seems like a dangerous side effect of low batteries in a key fob.

Any other insight into this would be helpful.

You have to read or get read, the code or codes that are triggering the check engine light, you will need an OBD-II or get a mechanic or auto parts store to read the check engine codes.

Yes, get a scanner or take it to a shop to get codes read.

But from what you describe the *most likely* problem is a bad fuel pressure regulator, quick and relatively cheap to replace. Assuming you have the I-6 volvo engine (you didn't say what year).
