Default LR3 Key Fob Issue

This may be of use to LR3 owners having trouble with their key fob not re-charging. My 2006 LR3 key fob would not open the doors remotely, I was informed by the local dealer that they could supply a new key fob for $341.00 plus tax, and an additional $150.00 to program it to the car! Close to $500.00 plus tax for a key! I purchased an empty key fob from eBay for $12.00 free shipping from China, and a replacement re-chargeable Panasonic VL2330 battery from Digikey.com for $7.03, plus shipping $7.66 total $14.69. The battery will have to be soldered into place after un-soldering the old one, you will need good eyes and a steady hand. Transfer the printed circuit board into the empty key fob along with the old key, a couple of dabs of super glue and you are done. Total cost $26.69 . Land Rover, you can keep your $500.00 key fob!

I have done the exact same thing for some of my customers, because often times the electronics are still good. However, I have noticed as of late, many of the shells on eBay have the logo removed. Did yours have it?

No, the empty key fob I purchased on eBay did not have the land rover logo, but it does the job just as well and it's certainly a lot cheaper!

Did your fob not work at all, or was it just here and there? My fob is missing the buttons and gives me hell all the time, sometimes it works with just a couple hits to my side and other times I must open the door manually. I am not sure if the fob is just dead dead or isn't holding a great charge. What about yours? The manual says the life of the battery in the fob is about 14 years, is why I ask.

Mine worked intermittently and then not at all, changing the battery solved the problem

I have heard there are issues with a green and white wire as well but haven't found anything else that could help my with this one. Anyone got an idea about this?

I have replaced the battery in mine (only have 1 fob). I get 3.12V in the circuit board, and the voltage drops a little when I hit a button, but the car does not unlock or lock. Is there a sync process to follow?

Some auto parts stores have a frequency tester at the counter to confirm its putting out a signal.

if it is, more than likely you need to fix the green and white splice in the passenger floor/door jamb tunnel.
