Default EPB Bedding Mode?

Well, I bought my first Land Rover instead of a Jeep, and I hope I didn’t make a mistake! Just did the brakes and I’d like to do this EPB Bedding procedure talked about in the manual (topix). I couldn’t get EPB Maintenance Mode “procedure” to work, so I removed the parking brake unit and retracted the piston manually. Now it’s time to bed the brakes, and I can’t get that mode/procedure to happen either. I have a 2014 LR2 HSE.

The manual says:

1. Engine on
2. Pump brake 3x, hold it down...
3. Pull EPB Switch up 3x, then press it down 4x (while still holding down the brake)

The dealership said:
1. Engine on
2. Hold EPB switch down for 3 sec...
3. While holding gas pedal down for 3 sec...
4. Immediately turn the engine off then on

Neither work!! What the hell?? Any one else know how to do this? Dealer said they could do the bedding for me but it would cost an hour of labor at about $130...lol...FFS.

Thanks!
phil

Phil,

The LR2 is what I like to call an unintentional exotic.

At least it is in the US.

The Freel2.com board is more active so you may want to post your questions there

My 2008 LR2 has an actual hand brake.

I do have a 2010 S80 (the LR2 is based on the S80 P3 platform) and my S80 does have the electric parking brake.

But I haven’t changed the rear brakes yet.

With that in mind the Volvo boards may be of help also.

Good luck

Let us know what you find out

Thanks

Paul
