That's full synthetic, right? Did you notice any difference when you switched from a blend to full synth?

I've never used a blend, always full synthetic.

I guess that makes sense as you are in a climate that has cold winters where full synth is better.

I am not sure LR calls for other oil grades in different climates, though. Let me check...

No, the manual calls for 0W30 A5/B5 in -all- climates. But since none of the retailers or oil change places like Jiffy Lube have it, I would have to order from Amazon if I wanted to use it, I think. But hey, I just saw that LiquiMoly makes a 0W30 full synthetic A5/B5, and guess what, they also say:

"This lubricant was developed primarily for use in various Volvo models with these specifications in various vehicle types"

A clue, Sherlock. I had no clue. Hmm. I think I'm going to have a chat with that LiquiMoly sales manager.

1. I was wrong about the oil grade. The manual calls for 5W-30 in North America.

2. After two weeks my city mileage appears to have stabilized around 18.4 mpg. Highway still a little over 23. Compared to stock 15/22, not bad.

15/22 is not typical. Stock is the 18/23+ you are getting now and matches what I've always gotten, as well as other LR2 loaner vehicles the dealer would let me borrow when I used to go there for service.

I can only compare with what the manual says and my own experience. Mine has 163k, and when I got it I was getting the 15/22 more or less.

Reason why I used it in the LR is because the previous vehicle, a V6, it did make the engine run significantly quieter.
I read that Ceratec is supposed to be a more advanced formula (also costs 3X more than Moly MoS2). But Ceratec is not advised for use in vehicles with a "wet clutch". Does the LR2 have a wet clutch?
