Default LR2 Breaks

I am hoping someone can help me, I think i need breaks on my 2008 LR2,
I dont know if I need Pads and rotors? Will i get a message on my screen telling me i need to get my breaks done, just like it notifies me when air is low or when i need fluids/service?
How much would i be looking at for breaks?

If you think you need them, I'd obey your inner spirit. About $65 and up for brake pads front or back, depending on quality of pad selected. Labor varies with shop. If wheel shudders when brakes applied, rotor would be warped enough to need replacement. Ceramic aftermarket pads will make less brake dust on your wheels.

Not sure if you get a squeal (mechanical wear indicator), a light, or a message, and a quick scan of the owner manual did not reveal. Let them go long enough and you will hear a grinding noise and begin to see new grooves being worn into the surface of the rotors as the worn out pads allow rivits to contact the disc.

I am hoping its just the pads I am not even at 100KM yet, not sure how often brakes would even have to be replaced.
Thanks for your help!

Default Hope you fare better than me on brakes...

Well, I needed all 4 wheels done on my 2008 LR2 - pads and rotors - the incredibly low mileage of 42,000 km and when I took it in for service again yesterday @ 55,000 km they told me I'm halfway through again. Granted I know by my driving style I'm not easy on brakes (or the car in general) but still... Given that the Land Rover dealer charged me $1300 (they actually wanted quite a bit more than that's what I got them down to) to do them last time I really need to look into higher performance rotors and pads!

Well it turns out I didn't need brakes after all it is just the rotors rusting which is causing the squeaky sounds
