Map sensor is on the intake manifold near the oil filter housing.

To remove it you have to disconnect the electrical connector and then push the sensor down and rotate it to release (see the second picture)

It may be possible to remove it by removing the headlight for access

Good Luck

Paul

Well, I finally got to the MAP sensor for a different reason. There is a coolant hose going to the engine oil cooler. I had to take the engine undershield off which is a small protector not the skid plate. But I took the skid plate off as well. That little undershield is a bear to get off. They did not make the bolts accessible. Then the intake manifold had to come off to expose the hose. Quite the job. Glad I had a good day to do the work. Took me 3 hours to get everything off. Next time it will probably take me an hour. But the manaul directions have to followed especially taking off the fan control and the AC hose brackets. Otherwise there is no room to remove the intake manifold.

Mike, can you get a few other parts I need while I have the manifold off? I need the engine oil cooler hose ( it burst), a thermostat ( might as well replace it while I have this front of the engine exposed. The hose part number is 6G9N-6N753-AB, another code just below this number is ECS5D.

Replacing the thermostat is the correct decision

let us us know if it’s broken when you remove it

Part numbers can be found in this thread

Get The Volvo part instead

30713530

note you will need the O-ring (LR001505) that goes on the end of the hose

I don’t know the Volvo part number for the O-ring

thanks

Paul

Great pics! Do you remember if you turned it clockwise or counter clockwise, looking down from the top? I would guess clockwise looking at your pics?

Answering this old question in case it helps someone else. I just had to do this myself.

The MAP sensor is turned clockwise about 30 degrees until it stops and the tab is clear to allow release. Then it just pulls straight out (easier with a small pry bar or flat head screwdriver).

Yup, and better get it right 'cause if you twist it the wrong way the navigation system map won't work and you'll wind up looking for Aunt Ludovica up and down a Walmart lot in a totally different state.

Hi all,
great post.
i have a 2008 LR2.
I’m replacing my MAP Sensor too as I believe my connector plug needs replacing too.
Anybody have a part number for this connector.
Had my cooling fan replaced recently which included pulling intake, and disturbed the connector which looks like it had previous issues.
Looking everywhere for a correct plug. Pics of my new MAP Sensor.
need correct plug connector.
thx
Jim
