LR2 Starting Issue
Hi all,
this issue may have already been addressed so apologies if that is the case.
Yesterday I backed my 2010 LR2 up where a small sandpile slightly pushed up onto the bottom of it. Then I proceeded to shut it off and load it up with a heavy load of stones. After that when I put the keyfob into the socket, it would not start. The lights would sometimes light up when trying and you could hear a click when you pushed the ignition button, but there was no sounds from the starter at all. I tried jump starting it, I tried jump starting with a battery cart. Then I had it trailered home and put it in the garage on trickle charge overnight. The load of stones were offloaded after I got home. I went out this morning and again tried to start it. The reaction was the exact same. I took a multi meter and measured the battery charge. It was sufficient. I tested the starter related fuses and found them good. I swapped the A/C and starter relays since they were of the same specifications. I am just about stumped here and could really use some help. Is there an inertia switch that I can reset on this model and does anyone know where? Do I need to do some kind of security reset? Thank you in advance for your help.

we had the same issue on ours and had to replace the starter. Ours was killing the battery after sitting for a few days though but then eventually the starter locked up entirely and wouldn't even make a sound

1. If the battery is more than four years old, replace it. This car has no tolerance for large voltage drops on starting... running a tired battery is asking for all kinds of trouble.
2. If the battery is newer, charge it and the test it (use a DIY tester take or it to FLAPS). Replace if it's not in good shape.
3. If that doesn't solve the problem, replace starter.

My LR2 had a starter problem too. In my case the engine started, but not immediately - kinda iffy. so the dealer swapped out a computer chip and said the circuit board that controlled the engine starting was going or damaged, and best bet was new one. that worked and not have any other issue it. that "not starting so easy" sensation was probably a week or two, maybe 3 weeks - but obviously glad I checked it out. didn't happen every time either. sometimes fine, sometimes a bit slow.
