Default Need Advice

I have an 08 LR2 with 146K. It has a bearing failure type noise coming from the area of the top of timing cover. More specifically the noise seems to be coming from a component that has a plastic tube attached to it and the tube runs to/thru the firewall. Can someone tell me what this part is. Is it prone to failure and if so will it make a bearing type noise? Finally, what is the difficulty in replacing it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Seriously? You expect someone to troubleshoot that from such a vague description? How about you work a little for the help and take a picture of what in the wide, wide world of sports you're talking about??

With all due respect, there are not many components in the engine compartment having a tube running thru the firewall, so yeah, I do expect that someone will easily know the part I am referencing. I hope whatever is causing your life to be miserable is soon rectified. And I wish you a great evening!

LMAO! Good luck with that! Not many components, eh? Let's see... "miserable" on the one hand, "ignorant" on the other. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. After all, just a few of the possibilities are electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, cooling, heating, fuel... that's all.

On my vehicle there is only one plastic tube running from the top of timing cover assembly thru the firewall. But yes, I am ignorant of what this component is, hence the question to the board. I trust you are not the chairman of the board, lol, cause you are definitely in a foul mood. I wish you the best in

Maybe you're just not sure how to take a picture. Try YouTube. Or you can continue to whine about being asked to take a picture to clarify what you are talking about. Your choice.

Or I can wait for someone a bit more amicable to respond to me. Again, I am sorry you are having such a lousy evening. All this lockdown stuff takes a toll on everyone I guess. May God Bless you this evening.

08/13/2020 Problem solved! Thankfully when I took the car into the local quick lube, the service guy knew a bit about engine noises, and immediately told me (correctly) he thought the noise was an idler pulley. New pulley, and no more noise. I was afraid it might have been the timing chain. And the plastic tube running from the firewall to the top area of the timing cover turns out to be going to the brake booster. Hopefully this info will help someone else who may be experiencing a bearing failure type noise coming from the timing chain area.
