Default Newbie LR2 owner - What to watch for?

New to LR2s but I'm an old hat to the marque. I currently own an 04 Discovery SE7 (owned for 17yrs), had a few LR3s and a Series II years ago. I just purchased a 2013 LR2 for my daughter in college. Its a 2013, turbo-4, 109k miles, in overall great condition. Turbo has been replaced, diffs replaced, fresh belts and hoses, timing belt, plugs/wires, brake flush, and came with good maintenance records. Its a 2-owner vehicle and seems like it has been well maintained. So, what snakes are hiding? What can go wrong at this mileage? What can I prevent before my daughter drives off in the sunset (she's also a LR fan and insisted on a LR over the lesser imports).

I own a 2008 straight 6 LR2, Don't know much about the 2013 turbos but I would also service the Haldex with an oil and filter change. There are a few 2013 LR2 turbo owners on the forum I think. I'd maybe change power steering fluid and check the p/s reservoir filter as well as thinking about changing the transmission oil in another 25000k.

Check out freel2.com for a lot of UK FL2 users, Just make sure it's your model as there are a lot of European diesel users,

LOL, essentially the same vehicle I purchased for my children. Glad it was properly cared for. I’ve had mine since 30k kms. Since 2015.
I have changed all fluids and filters. I continue to change all fluid and filters every 50k kms. (yes, more aggressive approach than the suggested schedule).

There have been a few things pop up;
yes, the diffs and the ptu… you mention the diffs. not the ptu yet?
coolant hoses needed replacement. (glad your are done)
radiator needed replacement
get an alignment (overlooked by many)
and like all modern JLR vehicles, it eats batteries. I replace mine when it can’t hold between 12.3 - 12.4 v.

You should be aware that while under warranty I have had the engine replaced. Others will think I’m crazy but I stand behind the fact it was -40 and we tried to start the engine. Something wouldn’t move and the next thing you know, crankshaft sensor misalignment and metal bits in the sump, We have a block heater now (as its off warranty) and it gets plugged in at 2c.

But it was -40…. and sitting a few weeks.
Overall I think good choice. This I think is one of the most overlooked, dependable vehicles. And its easy to drive in all weather and conditions. Your daughter has good taste.
I put a roof rack and box on for skis and stuff.

I dumped the Yokohama. geolander garbage tires (that others say are good) for a stickier tire in wet and dry. Afterall, Its my children driving it. And where I am, winter tires are a must 4mo of the year.
But the children need to check the oil and the coolant! Regularly! That would be the cause to a dead engine.

Have you gone for a drive…. surprisingly peppy when the turbo kicks in. And the braking good too.
I quite like the tight turning circle. And the superior visibility.
And I am confident that they won’t get stuck when they go camping or to the beach.
