Real life maintenance costs and repairs 2013 LR2
First off let me say thank you in advance for any answers. I really appreciate the people that really stick with these forums to provide advice.
I've been shopping for a 2013-2014 used LR2 for a while now. I've located one that interests me.
As part of my car buying decision, I always want to consider total cost of ownership. The purchase price in itself of course doesn't paint the whole picture financially.
When I used the Edmunds True Cost to Own tool, I was absolutely shocked at the estimated maintenance and repair costs they assign to a used 2013 LR2 @45K miles. Edmunds notes $9379 in maintenance and $13,218 in repairs over a 5 year time span, totaling $22,597.
Is this cost even close to reasonable?
In comparison, a 2013 used Ford Escape AWD 2.0T is calculated require a total of $9202 in maintenance and repairs. That puts the LR2 at a factor of about 2.4x as expensive to maintain. I understand they aren't the same thing, but still the difference seems to be quite a contrast.
As a side note, the nearest Land Rover dealer is about 75 miles away. I would likely use a shop (reputable) that specializes in European luxury brands (including Land Rover). I believe their rates to be lower because I know my Mercedes owning friends use them instead of the Mercedes dealer.
Thank you for your feedback.
