Default Starter location

Hey all,

Brand new to this forum. Hello!

I have a 2010 LR2 that I purchased recently. I LOVE the vehicle, but in our short time together, I had the rear differential replaced (grinding) as well as the AC repaired due to a leak. All of these were covered by the previous owner.

Don't want to get too deep in the details, but I had the starter replaced yesterday and when I look under the hood or underneath the vehicle, I see no evidence of a new part. Just wondering it's location so I can check on it. I can't seem to find any diagrams or photos on line of the vehicles components.

Thanks in advance!

Hey thanks!

Is it possible you have a higher res version of this? Before I go rolling around on the ground in the winter, I want to know if I can see it up top.

Thanks again!

You can't see it from the top. It's at the bottom front of the engine, in a recess next to the oil pan.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately impossible to see as there is a protective plate bolted under the engine. I'm guessing I'd need it up on a hoist in order to unbolt it to get a clear view.

Cheers

That's just a few bolts, but yes, it does help to have a lift. If you don't trust a mechanic you should ask them to hold the removed parts for you to see before you pay the bill. If they quoted you prices that deducted the core that's fine, just tell them you want to look at them.

You're absolutely right, but it's a bit tricky as it's a friend of a friend. It was a really last minute job that he fit in for me but the cost was high enough that it made me want assurances.
