You're lucky to have a mechanic who will install customer-supplied parts. Most of the shops in my town won't do that. I suppose I could try to negotiate to waive the warranty on their work, but I think they want the margin on the parts and would probably turn me down.

 

John will not give me any warranty on customer-supplied parts but insists on the same suppliers as OEM for most stuff, mostly for my own good, not his. I have also spent thousands with him, never argue a bill for any reason, and have sent him countless referrals due to their outstanding work and they have a rare 5-star review history on Yelp. They are so popular that their backlog means I have to wait until June 3 to get these installed and they will provide me with a loaner car while mine is in the shop.
