I heard anecdotal stories of shops with scrap bins FULL of ecoboost turbos and heads in the early days. I actually wanted to get a newer LR2 but opted out due to the ecoboost... at least the new defender has some real engine options.

Garret makes aircraft engines, so they should do a decent auto turbo.

Garrett doesn't make reciprocating engines, only turbine engines.

You can. But there is a saying with experimental homebuilt aircraft builders. Do you want to build, or do you want to fly?

I know, a turbo charger is within that wheelhouse. I was referring to the turbo, not the recip engine.

@merlinj79 , did you see my post about this very situation with the 1st gen ecoboost… at roughly 100,000 kms I got the replacement (and updated) engine from the excellent LR warranty. But it wasn’t the turbo…. it was the cam shaft and valves.
