The 1000 Mile Journey Commences-The First Step
Yes, you need to do an alignment after replacing control arms. The washers on each side of the control arm bolts are what adjust the wheel camber. Tie rod length is what determines your toe.
If you mark your washers and your control arms, you can come pretty close to the original setting when you reassemble, but this obviously doesn't work if you're replacing the control arms.
You can come pretty close with the tie rods as well if you measure the length of the originals and then make the replacements match. However, you should still get an alignment done.
As far as tight tolerance mode, the service manual calls for it. Some on here have argued that it's not necessary because it's not like you drive in tight tolerance mode anyway. I'm not sure where I stand on the issue, but I really don't think I would take it anywhere for an alignment other than the dealer. I've had too many bad alignment experiences with indy shops and past cars.
TOMR - Concerning the steering angle reset... I can't remember, but can you reset the calibration simply by sitting in the driveway and turning the wheel all the way left and all the way right a few times? Or is that the L322 I'm thinking about? You can do that with one of those two cars.

My scanner resets steering angle so unsure of the turn left right thing
If you look in my poly bush threads there's a link to a video demonstration of how the dealer presses bushings on the car , I tried the shop press and it got dangerous fast, at one point I thought we were bending the arm so I went to the torch and air hammer
