I’m contemplating at a set of these - are they also the standard Defender 255/70R18 tyres and did you make any modifications or do you have any issues with rubbing?
Any idea if you could still move if you had a suspension fault ended up on your bump stops?

 

The tire and wheel combination you see in the images are the standard Defender wheels and 255/70R18 Goodyear tires. They fit without adapters or spacers. Direct install. I did not drop the truck to the bump stops, but in access and up they do not rub at all. The tires are 32" in diameter... the stock 18's are 30.1" so there is a chance they would contact the plastic wheel well liner. I've got a set of 5 wheels listed in the "Marketplace" on this forum. Assuming your not in the U.S. tho...

Yeah, I did. It's ambiguous, that's why I asked for clarification.

 

Assuming this is what you're looking for.

 

In my mind, these two statements (in bold) contradict each other, so I was curious if 5280 had confirmed that turning doesn't cause interference in Access Height, because it sure does with my 32" tires. However, mine are wider, so maybe that helps with clearance...idk.

 

IIRC from when I got into the weeds on this, the Defender steel wheels have a 1/4” greater offset than the standard LR3 wheels. That might be enough to prevent rubbing at access height, in addition to sticking with 255 width.

I think pretty much anything beyond 30” tires are going to rub when on bump stops, it’s pretty tight even on the stock size.

 

I didn't drop the truck to the bump stops to see if they would rub. I can only assume and would expect the 32" Defender wheel / tire combo would rub on the plastic wheel well liner while driving straight forward or during left and right turns on the bump stops. I'm guessing most LR3's that don't have the stock size tires are gonna do the same, so...
And yes, the offset of the Defender wheels do make the stance just a little wider and as stated above, Is probably just enough to keep the tires from rubbing in access mode.
