Default 2005 Lr3 parking brake module

I'm looking at purchasing a 05 Lr3 owner says it needs a parking brake module to pass safety
how expensive and how hard are these modules to replace ???

I wonder if it just needs adjustment. The parking brakes can "fail" if out of adjustment. Making a horrible sound.

See PDF for help, section 9:

Granted, I would not tell the owner this as a potential expensive module can help negotiate the price. With that said, I make not guarantee that the module is not actually defective.

Usually about $900-1200 to replace. The part itself isn't that expensive, but the labor is. It is located between the rear wheels and above the chassis, so it's a pain.

The parking brake module is VIN specific, so you have to buy new. They are close to $1000. Labor is around the same. I’m not at my computer but I can post up the actual book time later.

There are some Chinese ones on EBay I have been tempted to try that are close to $200.

Were these ever uprated or revised? I don't want to jinx myself but my first one failed and then I had a second one that was not properly installed (by the dealer!) and they ended up replacing that one (or maybe they adjusted it properly) as well as a couple rotors and the thing has been bulletproof since then.

Is the part the same as it was in 2005 or somewhere along the way was it improved?

Damn. Book time is 3 hours to replace. Im guessing it would take closer to 4 or 5.

I've removed them on parts vehicles, but never installed.
