Hello to all Land Rover owners and mechanics.
Thanks for the answers and clarifications, Today I was to change the chains of command of this engine and for distraction I removed the flywheel of the engine!
Only then did I realize that there was no pin that guides to fit or that the holes are misaligned for only one fit.
Thanks again for the clarification regarding the subject, it helped a lot!

He had a bad experience with a local mechanic who assembled the engine with one cam 180 deg out of sync. It took out the the main timing chain tensioner and balance shaft/oil pump tensioner as well from all the vibration I would guess. Anyway...I replaced all the chains, tensioners and guides. I'm replacing the front and rear main oil seals along with the torque converter seal and O2 sensors while the engine is out of the car. What I need to know is if the flex plate has to be set at a specific point. There is one long slot in the crank position ring. I'm used to an offset on the crank bolts if they need to be in a specific position and didn't mark the flex plate when I removed it so I have no way to tell where it was positioned. Not sure if the ECU used the long slot as a marker for # 1 or if it just uses it as a reference for RPM.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ede
can someone tell me about the cam timing on the 2006 lr3 v6 4.0 i did the timing chains on this engine timed the cams just like i was told. Put it back together and had crank over but a no start. No fire and no fuel. I think. But in short would not start. I just seen this fourm and seen this theard and seen where i need to have the flexplate timed to the 3 o clock position. While i did remove the flexplate ti change out the rear main seal i thought i got it close to where it was but now i know than did not happen and then i seen this thread and just realized i was not that lucky. So on the cam on the driver side there is the cam sensor and on the cam there is one lobe on it by the cam sensor which way should be facing should it be facing up to the cam sensor., or should be facing down away from it like almost straight down
can someone plz help i am pulling the motor out again to fix it but would like to really know about the sensor i know about the flexplate and that is why i am pulling it again to fix it so any help plz thanks in advance
