Default 2006 LR3 Ashtray

Okay, here's an interesting problem.

The other day my ashtray door popped open on my 2006 LR3 (we never use the ashtray). I tried to clsoe it and it just popped right back open. I figure that some sort of latch must have given way. Before I take it to the dealership for some horribly overpriced repair, does anybody have any info on this?

No, sorry. Mine did the opposite, where the spring broke and won't pop open at all. Have to pull it. I wouldn't take it to the dealer to fix, unless you're really particular about it. You can take out the sping after pulling the tray out completly. THere are little plastic retaining tabs that keep it in the recess.

2005-2008 LR3 Ashtray Assembly

cheaper here:
Ash Tray (Genuine Part # FKB500050WBQ) - Land Rover interior panels/seats from Atlantic British

make sure you order the green escutceons for the aux port and cigarette lighter. you will not be able to re-use them.

Thanks, I'll try to get it out this weekend. Heck, it seems the part alone is nearly $200.00 IF you can find it...

Have you downloaded the workshop manual yet? The removal procedure is in there with diagrams and steps.

It seems to be a common problem. My spring just popped out. I tried to work it and I heard the spring fall in the back.

British Utah has the assembly for $52, which I will be ordering soon. What is a Biatch, is that the entire center console will need to be removed. There is a screw on the very bottom that holds it in...

Well, after messing around with it for about an hour, I just ran a small tap screw through the side and secured it in the closed position. We never use the darn thing anyway...
