Default 2006 LR3 - knocking "thunk" sound when turning, creaking over speed humps

I have an '06 LR3 with about 70k miles on it...live in a major city, so lots of stop and go, speed bumps, turning, etc.

Am noticing two significant issues:

1. I notice a "thunk" sound when turning, usually worse when I first start driving, easing up over the period of drive time.
2. I notice a "creaking" sound when going over speed humps, etc.

I had the tires rotated, balanced and aligned in April - and the car is shaking and shimmying again at slow down from high rates of speed.

Also had the lower control arms replaced late last year and tie rod (sp) replaced in April.

Any ideas? I feel like I am getting the run around from every mechanic in town...and I just want this fixed so I can drive safely with my child.

Thanks in advance!

I've heard a similar "thunk" from time to time. Started 4-5 months ago. Very intermittent, doesn't seem to be harming anything (yet). I had my dealership investigate before my CPO warranty ran out, and they didn't find anything. This is no relief, mind you, as it takes them 5 times to find anything.

Regarding the shimming and shaking slowing down from high rates of speed, that sounds warped rotors to me. Mind you, I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but that's my guess.

seen alot of sway bar bushings make noise. What you do is slide the bar back and forth if it moves they are bad. But the rotors sound warped, I bet the rears may not have been set correctly and burned up the rear ebrakes.

Ack. Sounds expensive. If that is the case, is there any way to prove they didn't do the work correctly?

Did they install new rotors, if they did then yes you can get some sort of warrantee of out of them. If they didnt then oh well. But if the rear rotors are replaced they will pulsate if you dont set the ebrake correctly and it burns up. look for the signs of heat damage on the rotors.
