Default 3rd party fob issue after 2 years

My 3rd party replacement fob from Lucky 8 no longer unlocks the doors. I can still start the engine.

I've check the voltage with my multimeter and the battery is good.

I synched it again using the Nanocom. First it un-synched the fob and it could not start the engine then I was able to re-synch it and it now starts the car.

Any ideas.

Since it is giving me 3 volts I don't think it is the battery.

Any ideas?

The remote function and starting function are separate. You can literally remove the battery and it will still start the Rover. And yes, 3v is dead cause it should read 3.6v. Replace battery. Odds are the remote you got was one of the many cheap ones sold for about $20, not an OEM one. Only the OEM and OEM grade ones will actually recharge the battery. The cheap ones do not and only last so long.

So it has happened again.

While my son's LR3 was in the body shop, the shop was using the only original fob I have.

After bringing the LR3 home I wanted to ensure everything worked for my son so I tried out his fob. Nothing. The LR3 was in the shop for about 3 weeks so either the fob was not charging up or per your previous post it never really charges up and finally went dead. This latest fob from Lucky 8 lasted since late August. It does have a rechargable battery and was not dropped and electrical connections are good.

I just looked on Land Leaping Land Rover. They don't have OEM fobs on their site for LR3.

At this point I'm willing to spend the extra money to get one that lasts. I have the Nanocom and Gap tool so I can program it.

Any suggestions where I can get one?

Thanks,

I bought one of these on eBay and soldered in a battery that I bought one Amazon. Still working 18 months later. The one I got with mu GAP from Lucky8 was fake. Couldn't program it and when I compared the two circuit boards it was obviously missing half the components. The vendor I bought from is still on eBay.
