Default 4.4 V8 Over Advanced P0011 P0021

Hello All,

I'm very new to the site as I'm struggling to find answers on why I'm getting the P0011 & P0021 Intake camshaft position timing-over-advanced

I've, changed the crank sensor, also changed the thermostat housing, water sensor and thermostat, as also having a P0128, so wondered if that was playing up with the emissions and timing, changed the spark plugs, coil packs..

Looked for air leaks etc, cleaned the MAF and the throttle body, and each time after doing any work, i clear all codes, after printing them off.. all was looking good, then engine management light was on after filling up with petrol (wasn't on before stopping) and turning in to the road i live, the "engine system fault" popped up on the screen..

Has any of you seen this issue before? sadly here in the UK, there isn't many people I can ask about the 4.4 v8 or I'm just struggling to find them??

Best wishes,

Jewls

Sound slike a cam sensor. Have you tried swapping that out?

Is the engine running smoothly?

I didn't think it could be that, as I have the same issue on both banks, hence doing the crack sensor??

I'm with Abran on the cam sensor.

So your saying to change both cam sensors? Are they a common issue on the v8's, just seems odd, both report a problem at the same time??

Not a common issue in my experience. The other option is that your chains skipped a tooth or the tensioners are bad.

Any rattle noise at cold start up?
